My husband Mike and I are looking forward to
outdoor activities and tackling some house projects as spring
turns into summer. Mike, with the help of his father (and a
little help from me), recently rehabbed our one-car detached
garage. They scrapped and painted the outside and replaced
structural supports and rotten boards on the roof and around
the doors. They finished the project by putting on a new roof.
It is like we have an almost brand new garage. If only it was
big enough to actually fit a car.
We are continuing to bike the country roads out in
Wildwood and around Greensfelder Park. Mike and I are
training for the Bike MS event this late summer. We also
enjoy participating in the Moonlight Ramble every August. It
is a bike ride that starts at 12:01am and courses through the
streets of downtown St. Louis.
My extended family has an annual mini family reunion over the Labor Day weekend. We typically camp at as mall state park in southern Minnesota. My grandparents have been camping at that park for years. They still set up their whole camp, have a tent and sleep on the ground. This year we
are breaking tradition and are traveling to southern Wisconsin.
The family finally decided that instead of camping we are
renting a cabin (a little less roughing it). My grandparents are
an inspiration to Mike and I as they just celebrated 65 years of
marriage. I also hope that Mike and I are still camping when
we are in our late 80s!
